The Marshall Community Foundation successfully meets the National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations administered by the Council on Foundations in Washington D.C. National Standards represents the highest measure of accountability and transparency in philanthropy.

The Marshall Community Foundation awarded $130,899 in scholarships to 105 area residents this spring. Scholarship selection criteria vary, depending on the donor’s specifications and particular interests. However, academic performance, school and community involvement, strong work ethic and character are a few common selection standards. Students/Educators who earned scholarships this year include:

“Marshall Community Foundation’s extensive pool of scholarships is made possible by generous members of our community,” said Shannon Tiernan, the Foundation’s executive director. “We are proud to play a role in connecting donors to their ultimate goal of assisting young people in pursuing their college dreams.”
The Foundation’s scholarship committees encompass approximately 250 dedicated volunteers, who participate annually in reviewing and vetting potential scholarship recipients.
