Fund for Marshall - Established 1985
Unrestricted Fund.  This Fund was established to support the emerging, changing, evolving needs of the community now and in the future.  Named Funds were established in 1993 through 2002, commemorating the lives of donors who donated a permanent gift of $3,000 or more to the Marshall Community Foundation’s Fund for Marshall .

Administrative Fund- Established 1991
Administrative Fund.  This Fund was established to support the over-all Administration of the Marshall Community Foundation.

Alec and Judy Allen Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

The AAUW Patrice Elms Scholarship- Established:  April 2002
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by The Marshall Chapter of the American Association of University Women in Honor of Member Patrice Elms.  It is awarded each year to a Marshall High School graduating senior who demonstrates initiative, positive personal characteristics and a strong work ethic and who plans to attend a 4-year institution.

Jennefer Bachelder Education Fund- Established June 2003
Donor Designated Fund. This Fund was established by friends and family of Jennefer Bachelder, devoted and distinguished educator in the Marshall Public Schools , to enhance programming for Walters Elementary School .

Battle Creek Boy Choir Fund- Established October 2002
Donor Designated Fund.  This Fund was established by a bequest from Charles Stauffer to provide quality musical experiences and training for boys 8 to 14 in the Battle Creek/Marshall Area.

Ruth Ann and William R. Biggs Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Doc Boelter Outdoor Youth Safety Education Fund- Established October 2005
Agency Fund.  Provides funds for the Wayne B. Fitch Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 138 to use for charitable endeavors relating to Youth and Outdoor safety.

Boley Family Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Brass Band of Battle Creek Fund- Established September 1999
Agency Fund.  This Fund was established to support the musical endeavors of the Battle Creek Brass Band.

Brooks Memorial Fountain Fund- Established
Donor Designated Fund.  This fund was established by…and …Because of fond childhood memories for the fountain, they wanted future generations to be able to enjoy it.  The earnings from this fund will be used to  provide  repairs and maintenance for the Brooks Memorial Fountain in Marshall , MI .

The Brundage Family Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Nicole Marie Burmeister Scholarship – Established:  September 2004
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by the Burmeister Family in memory of Nicole, Marshall High School graduate, Class of 2003.  Nicole’s Scholarship is a reminder of the many lives she touched, making such a positive difference.   It is awarded each year to a Marshall High School graduating senior who has experienced a major life event or challenge and has overcome it or is persevering to overcome it and who exhibits Nicole’s personal traits of persistence, a willingness to help others, a willingness to try, and a love of the outdoors and life.

Calhoun Conservation District Fund- Established June 2004
Agency Fund.  This Fund was established to support and sustain programming for natural history study, conservation education, and to maintain and protect the nature sanctuaries, natural areas, and forest preserves in Calhoun County .

Dorothy Goddard Capman Poetry Award- Established:  November 1996
Scholarship Fund. This Fund was established by Donald R. Capman and Diana Capman Dolan in Honor of their Mother, who was a poet throughout her life.  Dorothy would write poems of prayer, introspection, and fun or to honored people she loved for any special occasion.  She had little formal education, but valued it highly.  Dorothy always thought that public education put far too little emphasis upon the written word.  She would often muse, “Wouldn’t it be wonderful if poets got awards in schools, like athletes do!  I think it’s just as remarkable to write a poem as it is to catch a football.”

Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Ceresco Baptist Church Fund- Established February 1996
Agency Fund.  This Fund was established by Kenneth and Jean Combs to support the ministerial and charitable missions of the Ceresco Baptist Church in the Ceresco and Marshall Area.

Don and Ruth Chadderdon Music Scholarship- Established:  December 2001
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established in honor of Don Chadderdon by many of his former music students.  Don, who was the music teacher and director for Marshall High School between 1940 and 1960, had a large impact on a number of students which resulted in a good number of them pursuing music careers after high school, into college and beyond. The Scholarship is awarded to a Marshall High School student or previous graduate who is pursuing additional or supplemental music education, or who is pursuing an instrumental music career in teaching or performance.

Chamber's Holiday Endowment Fund- Established January 1996
Agency Fund.  This Fund was established by the Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce to enhance the City of Marshall ’s Holiday Decorations.

Chemical Bank South Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Church Family Memorial Fund- Established October 2003
Donor Designated Fund.  This Fund was established by the Church Family in memory of Marie A. Church and in recognition of William S. Church, distinguished educators in the Marshall Public School System.  It is used to enhance the Library and reading material for Gordon Elementary School .  This fund was originally established with the Marshall Public School System in July 1996.

Class of 1940 Fund- Established February 1996
Donor Designated Fund.  This Fund was established by the Marshall High School Graduating Class of 1940.  Each year the class determines how to use the annual disbursement.   . 

Class of 1957 Fund- Established June 1992
Donor Designated Fund.  This Fund was established by the Marshall High School Graduating Class of 1957.  Each year the class determines how to use the annual disbursement.  

Class of 1958 Fund- Established August 1993
Donor Designated Fund.  This Fund was established by the Marshall High School Graduating Class of 1958.  Each year the class determines how to use the annual disbursement.  

Class of 1961 Fund- Established August 1996
Donor Designated Fund.  This Fund was established by the Marshall High School Graduating Class of 1961.  Each year the class determines how to use the annual disbursement.  

Class of 1968 Fund- Established May 1998
Donor Designated Fund.  This Fund was established by the Marshall High School Graduating Class of 1968.  Each year the class determines how to use the annual disbursement.  

Class of 2001 Fund- Established June 2003
Donor Designated Fund.  This Fund was established by the Marshall High School Graduating Class of 2001.  Each year the class determines how to use the annual disbursement.  

Phillip R. Clissold Vocal Music Scholarship- Established:  March 1997
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by friends and family to honor Phillip R. Clissold at his retirement.  Phillip was a highly respected and talented music teacher in the Marshall Public Schools and had been an inspiration to music students for many years. The scholarship is available to provide assistance to Marshall Public Schools choir students in grades 7-11 who plan to attend an accredited summer vocal music camp.  Western Michigan University or Wolverine Camps are preferred but others will be considered.

Ella “Gwen” Collins Nursing Scholarship- Established:  January 1999
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by Charles Collin and family in memory of Ella “Gwen” Collins.  Mrs. Collins served as a government nurse during World War II where she provided nursing services at the Detroit Children’s Hospital, Ypsilanti State Hospital and the Willow Run Industrial Plant.  After the war, she was employed at Battle Creek ’s Community Hospital until she retired from full-time nursing to raise her family.  Mrs. Collins maintained her nursing license throughout her life.  The Scholarship is awarded to a Marshall High School graduating senior, former graduates, or previous Ella “Gwen” Collins Nursing Scholarship recipients who plans to enroll to an accredited nursing program.

John and Susan Collins Historic Preservation Scholarship- Established:  December 2004
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by Susan Collins in memory of her husband John Collins, who was a significant leader of the preservation movement in the Midwest and especially in Michigan .  Among his many accomplishments, John was a Board Member of the Historical Society of Michigan for 12 years and served as President from 1977-1979.  He also spent 13 years as a member of the Michigan Historical Commission.  John was responsible for the first walking tour of the historic homes in Marshall and for his locally famous cemetery tours which he conducted three times each summer for 17 years.  John worked with Historic Preservation graduate students from Eastern Michigan, Ball State, Michigan State and Notre Dame Universities, often bringing them to Marshall for tours.  The Scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing a degree in Historic Preservation.  Specific requirements have not yet been established.

Clyde and Marian Connelly Music Scholarship- Established:  January 2002
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by Clyde and Marian Connelly by a bequest to the Marshall Community Foundation.  It was their desire to assist talented students pursuing music curriculum at higher institutions of learning.  The scholarship is award each year to a Marshall High School or Tekonsha High School graduate who is in their Junior or Senior year of College and has a major or minor in music.  The Connelly’s will be remembered long into the future by the scholarship bearing their name enriching the lives of many.

Charles and Shirley Cook’s Sister Cities Fund- Established December 2001
Donor Designated Fund.  This Fund was established by Charles and Shirley Cook for the purpose of advancing the relationship between the City of Marshall , MI and Koko-cho , Japan , so that its citizens develop a greater awareness, understanding and appreciation of the cultural and historical values of the two communities and their respective countries.

Coury and Kesselring Natural Resources Scholarship- Established January 2008
Scholarship Fund. This fund was established by the Calhoun Conservation District in honor of Jim Coury and Dan Kesselring, for their many years of service with the National Resources Conservation Service and the Federal Agency of the US Department of Agriculture. This renewable scholarship is awarded to a Calhoun County resident seeking to further their education in Natural Resources or a related field at any Michigan College or University. Qualifying applicants may begin their education at a 2 year institution with plans to complete at a 4 year institution. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required.

The Dannenberg Family Fund- Established December 1995
Donor Designated Fund.  This Fund was originally established by Ronald and Susan Dannenberg as an Unrestricted Named Fund.  However, with the loss of their grandson, Jacob Dannenberg, in October 2004, the fund was reestablished with the income to be disbursed annually to Hughes Elementary for programs, materials, or equipment which directly impacts the education of the students.  In this way, Jacob’s memory will have a lasting impact on children for years to come.

Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Dr. James and Sandra Dobbins Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Richard and Anita Drake Scholarship- Established:  July 1995
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by Dick and Anita Drake, longtime residents of the Marshall Area, to assist dedicated and hard working students.  The Scholarships is awarded each year to a Marshall High School graduating senior and an Albion High School graduating senior who is attending a community college as a full time student with plans to complete a degree at a 4-year college and who will be working at least 15 hours a week while attending school.

Dube and Katie Scholarship- Established:  October 1992
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by friends and family in memory of and to honor Bruce Dubendorf and Katie Line.  Their desire was to assist deserving, disabled or disadvantaged youth.  The Scholarship is awarded each year to 2 Marshall High School graduating seniors who demonstrate a financial need and who have experienced a major life loss or challenge and have overcome it or are persevering to overcome it.

Eaton Corporation Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Exchange Club of Marshall Fund- Established May 1994
Field of Interest Fund (Human Services).  This Fund was established by the Exchange Club of Marshall to address the needs of the Marshall Area in the field of Human Services, particularly child abuse and the many issues associated with it.

Exchange Club of Marshall Scholarship- Established:  May 1994
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by The Exchange Club of Marshall to award Marshall High School seniors who are selected as recipients for the “Youth of the Month” program, which runs from October to March.  National headquarters provides the topic for the essay and students are selected from the senior class at the discretion of the “Youth Director”.   A “Need Scholarship” is also given on the basis of need and community involvement.  Any senior or graduate may apply for this scholarship.

David P. and Joan K. Foster Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Fountain Clinic Fund- Established December 1999
Agency Fund.  This Fund was established to support the Fountain Clinic’s mission to help those who have no health insurance and cannot afford needed medical care.  Resources are used to provide physician services, diagnostic testing, and medications for patients served. 

Joyce L. Franke Memorial Scholarship- Established November 1994
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by the children of Tom and Joyce Franke in memory of their mother.  Joyce held a degree from the University of Michigan School of Art and shared her love of Art and the Academics with her children and the community.  The  Scholarship is awarded to Marshall High School graduating senior(s), former graduate(s), or previous Joyce L. Franke Memorial Scholarship recipient(s) who plan to attend a 4-year institution and major in Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Theater or Architecture; demonstrate financial need; and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.   Preference may be given to University of Michigan or Kalamazoo College .

Tom and Lucy Franke Education Enrichment Fund- Established June 1996
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by Tom and Lucy Franke to provide support to students wishing to participate in enrichment programs and for teachers and counselors seeking additional classroom opportunities. 

Tom and Lucy Franke Marshall Fund- Established December 1996
Donor Advised Fund.  This Fund was established by Tom and Lucy Franke to enrich the lives of the Marshall Community by recommending grants to be used for charitable scientific, literary or educational purposes for the benefit of those citizens of the Marshall area.

Glowing Embers Girl Scouts of Marshall Agency Fund- Established December 1998
Agency Fund.  This Fund was established to support the charitable endeavors of the Glowing Embers Girl Scout Council, Inc.

Ron Glant Memorial Art Scholarship- Established July 1994
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by the family and friends of Ron Glant, a noted wildlife artist from the Marshall area.  The Scholarship is awarded to a Marshall High School graduating senior on ODD years, and a Coldwater High School graduating senior on EVEN years that plan to continue studies in visual arts at a four year college, community college or trade school.  Through this scholarship, young area artists from Marshall or Coldwater will perpetuate Ron Glant’s memory and be inspired by his talent.

Bruce, LeMoyne & Stephen Gray Scholarship- Established December 1990
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was originally established by family and friends of Bruce Gray in his memory.  LeMoyne and Stephen were later added by the family in their memory as well.  The Scholarship is awarded to Marshall High School graduating senior(s) in the top 25% of the class who wishes to further pursue his/her education and has participated in one varsity sport, demonstrated school involvement, positive leadership, honesty, integrity, sincerity, thoughtfulness, and respectfulness.

Great Lakes Bancorp Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Carl F. and Margaret M. Greene Unitrust Fund- Established October 1997
Charitable Remainder Unitrust Fund.    This Fund was established by Carl and Margaret Greene to provide them with a lifetime income as well as ensure a long-term investment in their community.  The Unitrust will eventually fund a Scholarship for Marshall High School Graduates.

Ruby Hamilton Henry Scholarship- Established June 2000
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by family and friends of in memory of Ruby Hamilton Henry, honoring her service as a teacher in the Marshall Public Schools for more than 20 years.  She was known for her creative approach, energetic projects and love for the children she taught.  The Scholarship is awarded to a Marshall High School graduating senior or previous Marshall High School graduate pursuing an Education Major at Michigan State University or Western Michigan University that demonstrates a financial need and has a minimum GPA of 2.5.

Hayes-Washburn Visual Arts Fund- Established May 1997
Donor Designated Fund.  This Fund was established by Elizabeth (Betty Bea) Washburn to continue and expand the interests of Murial Hayes, an educator and philanthropist, who had bequeathed to the Marshall Middle School Art Department Fund, to finance enrichment and scholarship opportunities for the visual art students of the Marshal Public Schools.

Healthy Youth and Healthy Seniors Fund – Established September 2000
Field of Interest Fund (Health).  This Fund was established by an award to the State of Michigan from the Tobacco Industries, to be invested in Community Foundations.  The funds are used to award grants to support community efforts by Schools, Public Health and other Non-Profits organizations to both prevent and treat smoking and promote healthy life styles in youth and seniors in Calhoun County .  

A. Chester and Helen E. Hemmingsen Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Donald and Helen Hensick Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Hoeltzel Scholarship Fund- Established March 2004
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by Harvey and Nancy Hoeltzel who wished to contribute to Marshall Area Youth.  The Hoeltzel Scholarship fund consists of three separate scholarships:  The Harvey Hoeltzel Architectural Scholarships is in honor of Harvey Hoeltzel’s love for his life time career as an architect.  One is awarded to an Architectural undergraduate at the Unversity of Michigan and one is awarded to a graduate student at the Taubman College of Architecture at the University of Michigan. he Harvey Hoeltzel Memorial Scholarship is in memory of Harvey Hoeltzel, who was proud of the fact that he was the first in his family to graduate from college.  It is awarded to a Marshall High School graduating senior or previous Harvey Hoeltzel Memorial Scholarship recipient who is the first member of their family to attend a community college or four year institution.  The Nancy Hoeltzel Early Educational Scholarship is in honor of Nancy Hoeltzel who retired after 17 years as a beloved 3rd grade and kindergarten teacher.  It is awarded to a Marshall High School graduating senior or previous Nancy Hoeltzel Early Educational Scholarship recipient who will be attending a 4-year college or university while pursuing an early childhood (Pre-K–3rdgrade) education degree.

Carolyn and Robert Holmes Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Fred W. Homann Jr. Research and Education Fund- Established April 1996
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Homann Sr., along with family and friends, in memory of their son.  It is their desire to assist Marshall High School graduating seniors, former graduates or previous Fred W. Homann Jr. Scholarship recipients that are pursing higher education in the health sciences with particular interest in preventative medicine. 

Mary A. Ivey Endowed Fund- Established November 1990
Donor Designated Fund.  This Fund was established by Mary A. Ivey to support the Ceresco Baptist Church, Family Life Broadcasting Systems and Focus on the Family.

Milt and Irene Jenks Memorial Scholarship- Established January 2006
Scholarship Fund.  This scholarship was established by the family and friends of Milt and Irene Jenks…

Marjorie Keller Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Kinter Family Fund- Established December 2002
Field of Interest Fund (Community Development).  This Fund was established by Michael Kinter and his family to support grants for the purpose of enriching the quality of life in Marshall and the surrounding area and by connecting people, resources and needs, thereby strengthening the community. 

Jeff Kittinger Memorial Scholarship- Established March 1996
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by Dean VandenHeede in memory of his best friend, Jeff Kittinger, whose life ended too soon.  It is awarded to a Marshall High School graduating senior who has a strong academic standing, engineering focus, out-going personality, and exemplary citizenship which Jeff himself embodied.  Preference may be given to automotive interest, part-time employment during high school, and acceptance to a major Michigan college or university.

Bernice A. Kretsinger Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Ann and Anthony LaPietra Scholarship- Established April 2007
Scholarship Fund. John LaPietra, Katherine LaPietra, and Margaret LaPietra Kunz, established this fund in loving memory of their parents. Ann and Tony, longtime Marshall residents, embodied a spirit of giving, creativity and community activism which will now live on in this scholarship fund. This scholarship is a renewable scholarship(s) to be offered to one or more graduating seniors or previous graduates from the Marshall Area. The recipients are chosen on the basis of their creative endeavors and community activism.

Jay and Karen Larson Fund- Established January 2003
Donor Advised Fund.   This Fund was established by Jay and Karen Larson to enrich the lives of the Marshall Community by recommending grants to be used for charitable scientific, literary or educational purposes for the benefit of those citizens of the Marshall area.

S.H. Leggitt Co. (Marshall Brass Division) Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

K. John Lord Engineering and Science Scholarship- Established September 2005
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by K. John Lord with a bequest to the Marshall Community Foundation.  Mr. Lord, a 1950 Marshall High School graduate and former Marshall resident, had an outstanding career in the Aerospace Industries, working on such projects as spy satellites, the Saturn Moon rocket, Persing and Posiedon missiles and writing computer programs to diagnose failures in electronic black boxes.  This Scholarship is to be award to a Marshall High School graduating senior, former graduate or previous recipient pursuing the field of Engineering or the Sciences at a two year or four year institution as a full time student.  Preference may be given to qualifying applicants demonstrating financial need.  By establishing this Scholarship, Mr. Lord wished to help others with goals similar to his own accomplishments.

Matthew and Madeline Lynch Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Marshall Area Youth Fund- Established January 1993
Field of Interest Fund (Youth).  This Fund was established by matching funds from the Kellogg Foundation.  The funds are used by the YAC (Youth Advisory Council) to grant to Youth Oriented Projects.

Marshall Civic Center Trust, Inc. Fund- Established January 2005
Agency Fund.  This Fund was established by the Marshall Civic Center Trust, Inc. to preserve, renovate and maintain the Joyce and Lucy Franke Center for the Arts.

Marshall Civic Players Fund- Established October 2002
Donor Designated Fund.  This Fund was established by a bequest from Charles Stauffer to support the operations of the Marshall Civic Players.

Marshall Community Credit Union Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Marshall Community Foundation Scholarship- Established October 2002
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by an anonymous donor who wished to make a contribution to the Marshall area.   To make the biggest impact on the community, a “general scholarship” was set up that would enable the criteria of the Scholarship to change with the every changing needs of the community.  

Marshall Heath Care Fund- Established August 1993
Field of Interest Fund (Health).   This Fund was established by the Marshall Community Foundation during the TOMORROW’S MARSHALL Campaign.  The funds are used to award grants to  non-profit organizations associated with health.

Marshall Historical Society Fund- Established August 2002
Agency Fund.  This Fund was established by the Marshall Historical Society to support grants for the purpose of funding the preservation and maintenance of the GAR Hall, Honolulu House and Capitol Hill School Museums; to acquire, organize, preserve and maintain Marshall area records and photographs; and  to encourage the protection of other historical structures or sites within the City of Marshall, by acquisition of facade easements or other means.

Marshall Music Fund- Established May 1996
Donor Designated Fund.  This Fund was established in memory of Tony Elms by friends and family to promote programming in all fields of music in the Marshall Public Schools .     

Marshall Public Schools Chadderdon Music Fund- Established August 2006
Donor Designated Fund.  This fund was established by the Class of       to be used by the Marshall Publics Schools to purchase and maintain equipment for the music and vocal departments.

Marshall Public Schools Endowed Fund- Established September 2002
Agency Fund.  This Fund was established by Marshall Public Schools to fund and support the projects and needs of the Marshall Public Schools .

Marshall Savings Bank Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Elizabeth McAfee Memorial Fund- Established November 2007
Donor Designated Fund. This Fund was established by the family of Elizabeth McAfee who was a loved and respected member of the Marshall area and an active volunteer in many community porgrams. The fund will be used to address the needs of the Fountain Clinic and the Food Bank of South Central Michigan, continuing the legacy of Betty's giving spirit for future generations.

Michigan Kitchen Distributors Named Fund- Established 1993-2002

Michigan National Bank Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Monday Club Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Vyda Mumby Educator Recognition Award- Established April 1998
Scholarship Fund. This Fund was established by William Stookey in honor of his 5th grade teacher, Vyda Mumby.  Mr. Stookey was so motivated by this special teacher that he wanted to assist other educators inspire their students.  The Vyda Mumby Educator Recognition Award provides the opportunity for significant monetary assistance to educators for enhancement of educational experiences.

Donor Designated Fund.  This Fund was originally established in December 1988 with the Marshall Public Schools by Vyda Mumby, long time Marshall Resident and educator.  The income from this fund is used for Marshall Public Elementary School classroom materials.

Network Vivian Lusch Memorial Scholarship- Established July 1996
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by the Marshall Area Network, a group that meets September through June to share ideas and discuss issues of public interest in Calhoun County .    In 2002, the Network Scholarship was renamed after founding member Vivian Lusch because of her commitment, dedication and caring for the Marshall Community. The scholarship is awarded to a non-traditional Marshall Public Schools District resident who exemplifies positive character traits and is returning to school later in life, upgrading professional skills, or pursuing occupation retraining. 

Karen M. Nickels Memorial Fund- Established January 2008
Donor Designated Fund. This fund was established by the famly of Karen Nickels, beloved mother and wife.  The Fund will be used for special needs students at Walters Elementary School.

Karen M. Nickels Equestrian Fund- Established January 2008
Donor Designated Fund. This Fund was established in loving memory of Karen Nickels, by her family. The fund will be used for the purpose of supporting the activities of the MPS Equestrian Club.

Oaklawn Hospital Fund- Established December 1991
Donor Designated Fund.  This Fund was established by Morris Stulberg and other Marshall residents to support the operations of the Oaklawn Hospital , or to be reinvested at the discretion of Oaklawn Hospital .

Marilyn Paskett Memorial Scholarship- Established September 2004
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by Mick Paskett in memory of his wife, who worked as a teacher for 36 years.  Anyone who came in contact with Marilyn knew that teaching was one of her greatest passions.  The Scholarship is awarded to a Marshall High School graduating senior planning to attend any two-year, four-year, or technical school on a part-time or full-time basis and is actively involved in the community and school

Patricia Phelan Fund- Established July 2002
Field of Interest Fund (Community Development).  This Fund was established by Patricia Phelan for the purpose of funding those that strive for measurable community improvements in the arts, development, education, health, social services, and other areas of community need.  In this way, the Patricia Phelan Fund will improve the community now and for all times.

Harvey Randall Memorial Scholarship- Established  June 2006
Scholarship Fund. This fund was established with a bequest by Harvey Randall to the Marshall Community Foundation. Mr. Randall was a long time resident of Tekonsha and, along with his brother, founded Randall Beans, from which the Tekonsha annual "Bean Day" has become synonymous. By establishing this scholarship, Mr. Randall wished to help graduates of theTekonsha High School to obtain their goals in higher education.

Reuss Public Safety Scholarship- Established November 2006
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by Harold Reuss, long time resident of Marshall and retired Marshall City Policeman. It is his desire to assist Marshall area residents woh are pursing a career in the Criminal Justice, Emergency Medical Services or other related fields, such as but not limited to, FIreman, Policeman, or Leagal Secretary. Qualifying applicants must demonstrate the drive and ability to be successful in pursing a college education and/or a certification process in the fileds afore mentioned.

Brett Reynolds Memorial Fund for Firearms Safety- Established May 2000
Donor Designated Fund.  This Fund was established by Robert and Janet Reynolds, in memory of their son, Brett, who was lost his life in a firearms accident.  The fund is used to purchasing and distributing trigger locks and other firearm safety devices for firearm safety programs in the Marshall area.

Rebecca L. Sadger Memorial Scholarship- Established January 2001
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established in memory of Rebecca Sadger by her husband, Michael Sadger and daughters.  Mrs. Sadger was a school secretary for 14 years in the Marshall Public School system.  The Scholarship is awarded in ODD years to a Marshall High School graduating senior pursuing a career in Accounting, Business, or Computer or Office Technology.  Applicants must demonstrate qualities of personal character that include self-discipline, motivation, persistence, and the ability to encourage and support these qualities in fellow students.

Schuler Family Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Serendipity Scholarship- Established March 2001
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by Kay Mead, owner of Marshall ’s Serendipity. It is Kay’s desire to assist students in need of financial support who are working to acquire an education.  The Scholarship is awarded to a Marshall High School graduating senior who has demonstrated initiative and a strong work ethic and has held part time employment of 15 hours/week during high school career.

Jeff Seybert Memorial Scholarship- Established September 1994
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established in loving memory of Jeff by his parents, Joe and Ann Wheeler.  It is awarded to two Marshall High School graduating seniors in pursuit of a college education that exemplify Jeff’s personal attributes of kindness, respect, consideration, and humility with the courage to be a positive influence for Marshall Youth.  Because of this scholarship, Jeff will continue to have a positive effect on the youth of Marshall for generations to come.

Shellenberger and Brown Family Fund- Established March 2003
Donor Designated Fund.  This Fund was established by the Shellenberger and Brown Families for the purpose of assisting with the funding for a health care position (nurse, RN/LPN) at the Marshall Fountain Clinic.

Mae E. Sherman Scholarship- Established March 1997
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by the Marshall High School Class of 1952 to memorialize a gifted teacher and warm, compassionate woman.  Mae Sherman’s former students, friends and family, whose lives were touched by her, wished to support seniors graduating from Marshall High School with plans to continue their education at a four year college or university. The Scholarship is awarded to two graduating seniors who possess strong academic skills and a proven desire to become active and productive members of their community.

LaVern Smith Scholarship- Established August 1991
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by the Calhoun County MSU Extension Office to be awarded to a member of a 4-H or an FFA chapter within Calhoun County .  It is awarded to a graduating senior or student enrolled in a technical school or college who is under the age of 19.

State Farm Companies Foundation Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Frances Stevens Stuart Theatre Production Scholarship- Established July 1994
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by the late Francis Stevens Stuart, who was a vocalist with an illustrious musical career.  Francis wished to inspire student creativity in costume design, stage setting, lighting and sound.  The Scholarship is awarded to a Marshall High School graduating senior or former Frances Stevens Stuart Theater Production Scholarship recipient who is interested in pursuing studies in theater production arts. 

Mark and Susan Stuart Family Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Stulberg Family Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Michael Stulberg Performing Arts Scholarship- Established December 1984
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by the Stulberg family in memory of Michael who was talented in the Performing Arts.  The Scholarship is awarded by nomination only to a Marshall High School graduating senior who exhibits outstanding talent in the performing arts.  The Marshall High School Theater, forensics, orchestra/band and vocal music departments also receive an annual award on a rotating basis. 

Morris and Charlotte Stulberg Fund- Established August 1991
Donor Designated Fund.  This Fund was established by Morris and Charlotte Stulberg for the purpose of supporting the Oaklawn Hospital .

Sullivan Family Enrichment Fund- Established March 1996
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by friends and family in memory of Thomas B. Sullivan.  Thomas was a long-time Boy Scout leader and an exceptional friend of the youth.  The Scholarship is awarded to a Student grade 5th-12th preferably in the Marshall Public Schools who has raised half the funds needed to participate in an enrichment activity. 

James Tarmnel Memorial Scholarship- Established June 2003
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by friends and family of James E. Tarmnel, who was a loved and respected resident of Marshall .  The Scholarship is awarded to Marshall Public School student(s) grades 5th – 11th to attend a one time school related program or event.

Tekonsha Township Library Fund- Established May 2007
Donor Designated Fund. This fund was established with a bequest by Harvey Randall to the Marshall Community Foundation. Mr. Randall was a long time resident of Tekonsha and, along with his brother, founded Randall Beans, from which the Tekonsha annual "Bean Day" has become synonymous. This fund will be used to address the needs of the Tekonsha Township Library and will have a lasting impact on the Tekonsha community for generations to come.

Geraldine B. and Charles H. Tidey, III Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Jack and Emily Twist Memorial Spartan Scholarship- Established October 2001
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established in loving memory of Jack Twist by his family and friends.  It is awarded to a Marshall High School graduating senior who shows leadership skills and involvement in extracurricular activity and can prove enrollment to Michigan State University .

UAW Local 220 Scholarship- Established August 2006
Scholarship Fund.  This Scholarship Fund was established by the dedicated and committed members of the UAW Local 220 with the intention to assist high school graduates in enhancing thier futures through growth and education. This renewable scholarship is to be awarded to a graduating senior from Barry, Branch, Calhoun, and Eaton Counties who plan to attend a trade school, community college and/or a four year institution. Qualifying applicants must demonstrate financial need, leadership skills, involvement in the community and extra curricular activites. Preference may be given to applicants related to UAW members and/or retirees. GPA is not a qualifying factor, but transcripts and scores are requested.

Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Aart VanElst Memorial Scholarship- Established December 2002
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by the family and friends in memory of Aart VanElst, an active member of the Marshall Community for 61 years.  It is awarded to a Marshall High School graduating senior who plans to attend a trade school, community college or a four year institute.

Rudolph F. Vogelreuter Memorial Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Dick and Bea Walters Named Fund- Established 1993-2002
Unrestricted Named Fund.  Named funds were established to commemorate the lives of donors who helped to establish the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund for Marshall by donating a permanent gift of $3,000 or more.

Walters-Dimmick Charities Fund- Established February 1998
Donor Designated Fund.  This Fund was established by Walters-Dimmick Petroleum for the purpose of annually selecting and supporting a recipient charity and/or charities.

Steve Wasielewski Memorial Bookstore Scholarship- Established June 2007
Scholarship Fund. This fund was originally established in May 1977 with the Marshall Public Schools by Brian Burns and Ben Armstrong, faculty advisors, in memory of Steve Wasielewski, who was the student manager of the school bookstore. Steve, a student of Marshall High School, was always smiling, active in a wide variety of school and class activities, loved by his classmates andrespected by all who knew him. He was humble, didn't need to be the center of attention and was often the unsung hero who could always be counted on. He truly made the most of his high school years. This scholarship is awarded, by nomination only, to a Marshall High School graduating senior, one boy and and one girl, who represents these qualities.

Beatrice S. Williams Scholarship- Established September 1995
Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship was established by the family and friends in memory of Beatrice Williams, a highly respected and admired elementary teacher in the Marshall Public Schools .   The Scholarship is awarded to a Marshall High School graduating senior who plans to attend a two or four year institution on a full time basis, pursuing an Elementary Education Degree.

Youth of Tekonsha Fund – Established September 1997
Donor Designated Fund.  This Fund was established by the Youth of Tekonsha Group to support students and programming in the Tekonsha Public Schools.
