Dear Foundation Friends,
The past year has been another great year for the Marshall Community Foundation. We are pleased to announce through your giving, we were able to embrace our mission by contributing to the well-being of our community. We are blessed with a rich history, caring people and beautiful resources such as, the Books Nature Center, highlighted throughout our Annual Report this year.
Families, businesses and individuals have made a lasting impact in our community through the charitable funds established with us and through the gifts received over the years. By pooling these funds and gifts, it enables us to support causes that better our lives.
We do this through our grant-making, which is the heart of our good work. Grants sustain and enhance so many agencies & organizations, programs & projects that serve our community. In 2006, we proudly awarded over $452,670, which addressed arts & culture, education, health & wellness, community development, youth, the environment and human services. Please make sure to check out the Grand section in the Annual Report, which appears on pages 8 and 9.
The spirit of helping others, particularly when it is needed most, was quite evident when the Foundation’s asset base surpassed the $9 million mark. Over a thousand gifts were received in 2006 totaling $495,416 in donations. This is a great testimony to a giving community.
The Trustees and staff wish to thank our donors. Your support allows us the opportunity to make a difference. We celebrate the beauty found within Marshall and within you.
Charles B. Cook, Board President
Sherry A. Anderson, Executive Director.
