Marshall Community Foundation Awards Grants to Area Agencies

MARSHALL, Mich.—The Marshall Community Foundation awarded $74,400 to area non-profit agencies in March through the Fund for Marshall and Marshall Youth Fund. 

“When you make a contribution to the Foundation’s Fund for Marshall or Marshall Youth Fund, you are actually supporting the work of countless area non-profits,” said Shannon Tiernan, the Foundation’s Executive Director. “The Foundation’s quarterly, unrestricted grant making efforts touch every corner of our community – from the arts to education, the environment to youth and seniors, health and human services to community development. This is all made possible through the generosity of our donors.”

Eight local organizations received funding in the Foundation’s Second Quarter:

The Brass Band of Battle Creek $8,500
The Marshall Community Foundation Youth Advisory Council (YAC) agreed to provide scholarships to Marshall High School students attending the organization’s summer music camp, which is lead by nationally-recognized professional musicians. 

Charitable Union $5,000
YAC agreed to provide the organization with resources to hold a free back-to-school clothing distribution for students at Marshall Public Schools. 

City of Albion/Calhoun County Trailway Alliance $10,000
Once the City of Albion secures additional funding and remaining easements, this grant will provide resources to expand the Albion River Trail. 

Fountain Clinic $17,000
The Clinic will utilize this grant to support their diabetic management program.

Marshall Area Economic Development Authority $20,000
MAEDA will utilize these resources to purchase a trolley that will enhance local tourism initiatives. 

Franke Center for the Arts $9,150
This grant will assist the Franke Center Children’s Theatre’s Expert Artist Workshops and Education Outreach Programs. 

Muscular Dystrophy Association $4,000
The organization will use these resources to assist two Calhoun County residents in attending the organization’s 2019 summer camp. 

City of Marshall/Marshall House Apartments $750
This grant will enable the Marshall House to purchase garden beds and a flower pot for residents to plant vegetables and flowers.
